Joe Hargan DA PAI PPAI RGI RSW
Joe Hargan DA PAI PPAI RGI RSW (b. Glasgow, 1952) is a painter celebrated for his witty, distinctive style and recurring character “Sniffy,” now collected worldwide.
He studied at the Glasgow School of Art, graduating in 1974, and began exhibiting in Scotland before expanding across the UK and internationally, including at the Royal Academy in London. His paintings are represented in major corporate and private collections such as the BBC, Bloomberg, Bank of Scotland, the Royal Family of Kuwait, and King Charles III.
Throughout his career he has received numerous awards, including the Contemporary Fine Art Award, the Maude Gemmell Hutchison Prize, the Paisley Art Institute Award, and the Royal Scottish Academy’s William Bowie Award.
Hargan is an elected member of the RGI, RSW, and PAI, where he has served multiple terms as President.
