About the artist

Born into a family of artists, Morrocco was immersed in painting from an early age. He studied at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art in Dundee from 1970 to 1974, where he was taught by his uncle, the painter Alberto Morrocco. He completed a postgraduate year in 1975, receiving a highly commended post-diploma, and was awarded the Farquhar Reid Travelling Scholarship, which enabled further study in Paris and Florence.

During his studies, Morrocco was selected to attend Hospitalfield House in Arbroath, where he worked under British artist Peter Blake.

Following his formal education, he worked as a freelance illustrator before establishing a design consultancy in Dundee, which he ran for over a decade. In 1997, he returned to painting full time, a practice he continues today.

Working primarily in oil, Morrocco paints a range of subjects including landscapes, interiors, still life and figurative compositions. His work reflects an engagement with European painting traditions, shaped in part by his time spent in France and Italy, alongside his ongoing connection to Scotland.

Morrocco has exhibited extensively across the UK and internationally, and his work is held in private collections worldwide. He currently works from studios in Fife, Scotland and on the Côte d’Azur in the south of France.
